Beckett’s ghost rules in Teheran

Corruption and warfare are two sides of the same coin, preferred by most businessmen
and politicians for the certainty they bring to the matter of profit. On the other
hand, there is never a free lunch, and war can be a tricky business that does not
always turn out in the desired manner. To begin with, you might get killed, not be
re-elected, or go to jail. This is why the same people prefer to do business with
like-minded folk from other countries the better to assure the outcome and confuse
those people at home with the most to lose from this sort of business. This is
gaming of the highest order, which is why, perhaps, they call it the Great Game.
