US Military set to retain the high ground in space

The ability to turn on and off GPS (Geo Positioning System) signalling
looks as if it will be retained by the US as the European alternative
falls from grace. The strategic ability to control from the skies who
has geo-positional knowledge has ramifications far beyond the
convenience of your route finding buddy in your automobile. The GPS
signals are of prime military use controlling tomahawk missiles, A-10
tank busters, aircraft carriers and the like, being essential for the
exercise of political will and ultimately the conduct of an independent
war.
